Since being a part of Urban Equities, I have spent time learning about the history of the company. I was in my teens when Urban Equities was founded 25 years ago. Things change over time, but in my exploration, I found that Urban Equities has remained unwavering to several key values, some of which have had social and economic impacts the community and have contributed to the company's success.

When looking at Urban Equities’s past projects, you can see its roots in single and multi-family housing in neighborhoods such as Englewood, Auburn Gresham, and Bronzeville. What has set Urban Equities apart in the past is the same thing that sets it apart today: the willingness to solve a tough problem: the ability to educate the client: and the commitment to delivering on time, within scope, and on schedule. Urban Equities has recently made a commitment to help educate clients on the new Opportunity Zone legislation. Urban Equities is poised to utilize the Opportunity Zone tool to continue to tackle tough problems in neighborhoods as it remains committed to creating a socioeconomic impact in disinvested communities.

Looking Back to Future

Many communities that Urban Equities has touched in the past will benefit from future investment because of the Opportunity Zone legislation. I, for one, am hopeful that this legislation will lead to a sustainable development solution, which can create new housing and work opportunities that allow existing residents to remain in those communities. It is exciting to be a part of a team that is knowledgeable about development trends. Urban Equities has taken leadership in educating others about why the new legislation is something to investigate. For us, the Opportunity Zone is just another tool in our already expansive tool belt to provide value to our clients.

I am proud to be a part of a team that is steadfast in its commitment to creating a social and economic impact in Chicago.
